April 11th, 2017 - Palm Shores, FL - The Space Coast Association of REALTORS® is preparing for a groundbreaking ceremony on April 18 that celebrates the Association coming together under one roof for the first time in years. The groundbreaking ceremony will take place at the Association's property in Palm Shores, where a 15,266-square-foot new building will serve as its headquarters. The Mayor of Palm Shores, Carol M. McCormack, the Association's President, Lynn Jones, and its Board of Directors will attend the groundbreaking ceremony. During this special event, Mayor McCormack will officially welcome the Association to the Town of Palm Shores.

In December 2013, the Melbourne Area Association of REALTORS and Space Coast Realtors merged and became the Space Coast Association of REALTORS®. Ever since the merger, the Association has operated out of two separate buildings. Unifying under one roof will allow the Association to reduce costs and streamline staff operations to better serve members.

The Association assembled a task force in 2016 to evaluate its current facilities and future needs. The task force's research led to a decision in October of 2016 to consolidate operations under one roof. In the months since, the Association has been looking for a centralized property that will meet its needs. On Mar. 24, the Space Coast Association of REALTORS® closed on a property at the northeast corner of Wickham Rd. and Pineda Plaza Way in the Town of Palm Shores.

"This groundbreaking ceremony will be a special moment for our Association because it marks the beginning of a new chapter in our long history of serving Brevard County REALTORS® and residents," said Lynn Jones, president of the Space Coast Association of REALTORS®. "A great deal of work went into making this move happen, but it was worth it because we will be able to enhance our services from this one, centralized location."

At present, the Association has 14 staff members and serves more than 3,900 REALTORS® and Business Partners from two separate locations, one in Merritt Island, and another in Melbourne. Once built, the new building will provide adequate office space, meeting space and house a large banquet room for education courses, member town halls and other events the Association hosts throughout the year.

The new building's architecture was developed by Holeman Group, Inc. C & H Merrill, Inc. provided engineering and design services and M.E. Construction, Inc. (MEC), a general contractor from West Melbourne, is the project's builder. On April 3, MEC was onsite clearing the property. The new building is expected to be completed by the end of 2017.
